Hey folks!
Monday was so much fun. We had our zone activity which was breakfast and kickball. It's been SO hot here recently, and around 10am when we went outside to play kickball it was already way too hot. We started playing, and the sprinklers came on! It was a blast and kept us all cool. I'm grateful for oppurtunities I have to have fun and get to know other missionaries! We also had a water balloon fight after that, of course. Then we did the normal preparation day things, shopping, cleaning, laundry.. Etc. That night we had another lesson with Laura, our Stake President's friend who is slowly coming back to church. She is awesome and it's cool to see how much she's trying and doing her best! I'm so grateful for every person I meet, who teaches me how to be better.
Tuesday we did lots of the studies that come with training, and went around visiting people. We also had a lesson with our recent convert, Alex/Manny (he goes by both) and we set up a time to go to the temple to do baptisms for the dead with him! Also...
It RAINED today! I don't remember the last time it rained as much as it did today! ! I never thought I would say this, but I miss the rain and was excited to see it.
Wednesday we had zone conference. Our first one with President Treadway. He and President Killpack are so different, but are both absolutely amazing. President Treadway is very energetic about the work, and changed a lot and taught a lot and just was so excited! It was a very long but spirit filled and great meeting. By the end of sitting in a metal chair for 7 hours, my back was hurting and needing some help. I was able to get a blessing from President Treadway that helped a lot! I am so grateful for the power of the Priesthood!
Thursday was great! We had a District Meeting in which we discussed zone conference and all of the many changes and things going on in the mission. After that we had lunch with an older couple. The wife was a world famous chef who had studied all over and has written cook books! Lunch was delicious!
Since Sister Fonseca is learning English, we try to do Language study with her every day. We end up having the funniest conversations with her sometimes. It's amazing how real the gift of tongues is and that she definitely has it! It was so hot today, and a member bought us slurpees when we went to get gas, which was a tender mercy. We had a few appointments that night, one with one of our bishops. He asked me how my prayers have changed from before my mission to now. Before my mission I prayed because I was supposed to, now I pray because I need to! I literally cannot do anything without God's help. Thank goodness it's at our fingertips, all we have to do is ask for it!
Friday we had Costa Vida for dinner, so that's cool! Sister Fonseca and I have been having some struggles here and there health wise, especially today, but all was well in the end. We were very busy tonight with member lessons and meeting people, and that night were given fancy cupcakes, and multiple people brought us cookies! I am so blessed to serve around such amazing and kind people. I also met 3 kittens today, which was also pretty cool.
Saturday Sister Fonseca got her patriarchal blessing! We drove up to Saratoga Springs so she could get it in Spanish, which she understands much more than English at this point in time. We had a miracle right before that, our mission President for some reason didn't have access to fill out Sister Fonsecas blessing recommend, so we called our neighbor Bishop Fugal, to see if he had any paper versions. He told us that he was supposed to throw them all out once they switched to digital, but he went and checked for us. Sister Thomas, Sister Fonseca and I all said a prayer together that he would find one so she could get her blessing. About 20 minutes later, he called and said he had one! It was the very last one in the binder, even the carbon copy underneath it was somehow filled out, while the white paper that we needed was not! I continue to be made aware that Heavenly Father knows us and recognizes us.
Sunday I hit my 17 month mark! Missions as life just fly by.. It's teaching me to not take anything for granted! We went to a sacrament meeting, and then taught two sharing times in one of our wards. Ah primary. Haha! It's always so great to be involved with the members in our wards, I love it and am grateful for it! Lots more lessons and meeting great people again that night.
I've said it before and I'll say it again.. The gospel is true!
I am so grateful that for a short time in my life, I get to serve God and His children. I am so blessed! I am so blessed to have met so many incredible people and love the people here dearly.
Also.. If you havent read from the Book of Mormon at all or even just recently.. Do it! It will bless and change your life.
Next week will be my last email as a missionary.. Well, as a full time missionary anyway! 😊
Much love,
Sister Crofts
